Hsing-I Beng Chuan: Wood Element Fist

28 October 2017 - 29 October 2017

Expanding on the previous year's Hsing-I teachings in Ulm/Neu Ulm, Bruce will cover the next element of the Five Element series, Beng Chuan known as the Wood Element Fist.

Hsing-I Beng Chuan is considered to be one of the most powerful practices in all the internal martial arts. Bruce will cover as many of its six basic methods as time allows.

Although Bruce will teach martial applications, you may equally train in Hsing-I's Five Elements for health and to develop a strong clear mind. Wood element practices help one become strong yet flexible, decisive and aware of psychic phenomena in a stable way. They also nourish the liver, tendons, blood and Qi of the body.

Hsingi Beng Chuan: Wood Element Fist

This hsing-i technique uses straight-ahead physical motion along with the internal energy of Press Forward. Beng Chuan is often considered to be the most powerful straight punch in all the Chinese martial arts. Although a famous attack technique, it also uses forward momentum for defense. It gives practitioners a sense of projecting through obstacles in a very powerful fashion. As such, it is an yang technique and can be very aggressive or stabilizing depending on intent.

Beng Chuan is represented by the Wood Element. The internal pressures initiated in the body by this movement, in addition to its basic qi work, have a direct and positive effect on the liver, ligaments, tendons and blood circulation. Besides being particularly good for balancing problems with the liver, such as those derived from heavy drinking or other toxins, Beng Chuan can also help rebuild a liver that has sustained damaged from physical illness, such as hepatitis. The liver in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) also is the source of the "Hun" or spirit. Wood element practices such as Beng Chuan can  increase clarity and awareness of spiritual energy, what in the West is know as psychic abilities and phenomena.

There are six basics methods of Beng Chuan and Bruce will cover as many as time allows. Beng Chuan uses full steps, half steps and what are called “flying steps,” used to cover a tremendous amount of distance very rapidly.

Hsing-i's Wood Fist is also called the "Crushing Fist" because it focuses on making fists "grow" out of the body. It is often compared to the force of a powerful plant growing and expanding through concrete with a steady, inexorable force.
